Annabelle Dvir

Annabelle Dvir
Annabelle Dvir is an Israeli-Georgian choreographer, voice artist, live sound composer, and dance performer, and the director of her ensemble WOMAN OF SOUNDS. Through the tension between sensation and perception, the heard and the seen, she creates physical-vocal practices and examines new aesthetics that merge feminine reality with fantasy, sci-fi, and storytelling. She composes, with a musical-choreographic eye, the embodiment of sound frequencies and the visual shapes of alternating soundscapes in order to transform human preconceptions, emotions, and inner desires. Delving into the forces of the tribal and ethnic, her stage works and practice center on the “performance body” as visual, audial-sonoric, and mass recurrences.
Annabelle earned her MA and BA with Dean’s honors from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and graduated from KELIM Center’s postgraduate Choreography Program. In 2018, she received the ImPulsTanz DanceWEB scholarship, Vienna – Austria, and the Art Excellence Award of Holon Municipality. In 2017, she received the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Sports creative grant for outstanding emerging choreographers. In 2022, she won the Israel Minister of Culture Award and was accepted for a residency at the AGORA CITÉ INTERNATIONALE DE LA DANSE, Montpellier, France. In 2023, she was the artist-in-residence at the Suzanne Dellal Residency Program.
