Dana Herz

    Born in Jerusalem to a family of musicians, Dana Herz began her musical studies
    at the age of eight with the flute, and gradually gravitated towards singing,
    playing piano, and songwriting. While her initial training was classical, she
    eventually found her creative home in different musical styles, primarily
    combining Jazz, R&B and folkloric styles Middle Eastern music. In her youth, Dana performed under various frameworks at The Jerusalem Conservatory Hassadna, and became involved with Heartbeat: Amplifying Youth Voices – an organization dedicated to musical and critical education of youth, where she became a lead performer and international ambassador of the organization. After her tenure in the Heartbeat foundation program, Dana was invited to perform on behalf of the organization internationally and locally, and as the permanent lead vocalist for the Heartbeat All-Stars Band. After graduating from high school at The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, Dana received a scholarship to study in The Excellent Musician Program at The Center for Jazz Studies under The Israeli Conservatory, where she began her Academic education. She then returned to Opera studies temporarily at The Buchmann – Mehta School of Music, before receiving a full scholarship to continue her Jazz studies at The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, where she received her BFA Degree in Jazz Performance Magna Cum Laude.

    Within various frameworks and projects, Dana has shared the stage with
    prominent musicians such as Shakira, Chick Corea, Bobby Mcferrin, Nicky Jam,
    Prince Royce, Avishai Cohen (Bass), Avishai Cohen (Trumpet), Eli Degibri, Yoni
    Rechter, Yaron Gershovsky, Sheila Jordan, Omri Mor, Shaanan Streett, among many others. Dana’s voice and music teachers have included Becca Stevens, Trish McCaffrey, Janet Lawson, Tamar Rachum, Bavat Marom, Amit Golan, Simon Starr, and Ofer Landsberg.

    Dana is currently leading her own band and is in the midst of recording her debut album. She has performed in some of the most prestigious venues and festivals in Europe, Israel, and the US, such as WOMAD Festival UK, The Troubador London, The Red Sea Jazz Festival, The Yellow Submarine, Levontin 7, The Jerusalem Music Center, Barbi in Tel Aviv, Le Poisson Rouge NYC, Club Bonafide, Rockwood Music Hall, Lyric Theatre in NYC, The Hamilton in Washington DC, Harvard University, Yale University and the Sunset Sunside in Paris.

    In 2017, Dana worked as a backing vocalist and keyboardist with International
    Superstar Shakira, performing for her album release shows, as well as recording
    backing vocal tracks that were used for Shakira’s El Dorado World Tour.
