Dana Ziv
Dana Ziv was born in Haifa, Israel in 1991, and moved to the USA in 2000 at the age of eight. In 2009, Dana and her family moved back to Israel, and she began studying Music with a focus on Composition at the University of Haifa in 2012, continuing to an MA in composition in 2016. Among her composition teachers were Eitan Steinberg and Oded Zehavi.
Dana was awarded first place in the Itay Weiner Composition Competition in 2015 with her piece “Swimming in Air” for Oud, Viola and Clarinet. The piece was performed in December 2015 at the University of Haifa.
In 2019, Dana spent six months managing a project to make the center’s music archive accessible online (over 25,000 recordings of various communities of the Jewish diaspora). The project was put on hold due to COVID-19.
In 2016, Dana was awarded a scholarship from the American Israeli Cultural Foundation in the field of composition.
