Dikla Yuval

Dikla Yuval (b.1967 Jerusalem, Israel) lives and works in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel.
A graduate of Israel Hershberg’s Master Class – The Jerusalem Studio School for Painting and Drawing (JSS), 2004-2008. Yuval also spent two summers staying with JSS in Italy at The International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture, Montecastello di Vibio, Umbria.
Participated in several group and solo exhibitions in Israel.
Yuval’s works are typified by a dual presence: on the one hand, they convey a somewhat blurry, almost haphazard naïveté; on the other hand, they introduce a carefully planned geometrical grid comprising rhythmical compositions of an urban sphere.
“The act of painting is akin to perpetual translation and refinement of the sensory experience: translating the observation of the outside inward, and translating my inner experience vis-à-vis the visible to myself, so that these insights may be translated outward, onto the canvas. It is an incessant search for the hidden grid, the modus which carries the thing. Painting as an act of research which explores the boundaries of the beautiful and the visible”, says the artist, while constantly examining questions of materiality, light and shade, concrete and abstract.
