Dmitry Shchelkin

Dmitry Shchelkin is a multiple percussion player whose interests extend equally to both the very contemporary chamber & solo music to the music of the Baroque, Renaissance & Middle Ages.
A graduate of the Moscow Conservatoire (prof. Mark Pekarsky), he also took part in a number of academies like IMPULS and Darmstadt Ferienkurse, as well as in masterclasses with Christian Dierstein, Jean Geoffroy, Peter Prommel, Emmanuel Sejourne, Miquel Bernat, Arnold Marinissen, Mircea Ardeleanu and more.
Dmitry has given many concerts as a solo & chamber musician; among his repertoire he has premiered pieces written particularly for him by Vladimir Gorlinsky, Alexey Sysoev, Vladimir Rannev, Peter Aidu, Igor Kefalidis, Sergei Akhunov, and Alexander Wustin.
His activities & experience include the Mark Pekarsky Percussion Ensemble (since 1999), Studio for New Music and different contemporary music groups, free improvisation (in long partnership with Alexey Sysoev and Yuri Favorin), the PerSimfAns no-conducted orchestra (a board member), the Baroque percussion & timpani in Pratum Integrum Orchestra (on period instruments), diverse theater collaborations as a music performer, as well as a co-authorship in the sound art field.
He appears on recordings released by Glossa, Fancy Music, Moscow Conservatory Records and Melodiya. He took part, as a soloist and chamber musician, in international festivals like La Biennale di Venezia, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Schleswig-Holstein, December Nights of Sviatoslav Richter, Territory Fest.
He has resided in Israel since the Spring of 2022.
