Einav Ziv was born in Haifa, Israel, 1983. Lives and works in Jaffa, Tel-Aviv.
Ziv is an interdisciplinary artist; her work involves painting, sculpturing and video installation.
Ziv’s work is motivated by the ideas of motion, life-death, radical environments, and extreme situations. In painting, her research materials are YouTube homemade movies and extreme sports such as freestyle skiing and skateboarding. She translates these activities into her experience in the studio. The ‘extreme state’ in Ziv’s paintings take place in snowy landscapes, hills of hay, steep slopes, tunnels, bridges, etc. Reflecting her interest in the human condition as ‘extreme culture’.
“When people ask me if I am involved in extreme sports, I say that I paint”.
Her interest in painting is also reflected in sculpture and video installation, as she tries to understand painting as a visual depiction of motion.
Einav Ziv is an emerging artist who has already participated in several exhibitions in Israel. Her work is in important Israeli and international collections. Ziv received AICF scholarship for 2010 – 2011.
