Erez Drigues

Erez Drigues is an actor, playwright, screenwriter and director. Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, he is the son of a French set designer and an Israeli writer and poet, thus holding both Israeli and French nationalities. Currently living in Italy, Erez is writing for Israeli television and theatre. His recent TV show, “Rehearsals,” was purchased by the streaming giant HULU, as well as winning several awards in Israel, including “Best Screenplay” for Erez and his colleague. He now has several other projects in development for TV.
He is a former member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab and a recipient of 2 Scholarships from The America-Israel Cultural Foundation.
Drigues graduated from the Yoram Loewenstein’s Performing Arts Studio in Tel Aviv in 2007, followed by a 3 year acting tenure at Gesher theater. In 2010 he did a Directing internship for world renowned director Yevgeny Arye at Gesher. In 2013 he was a member of the prestigious Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab.
His directing and artistic accomplishments include: Directing and writing the original new comedy “Under Construction” for Beit-Lessin theater in Tel Aviv; rwiting the world premiere stage adaptation of the award-winning Italian feature film “Perfect Strangers” by Paolo Genovese for Israel’s National HaBima theater; directing and translating “The Pillowman” by Martin McDonagh for the Haifa regional theatre; directing and adapting the bestselling novel “Petty Business” by Yirmi Pinkus for Gesher theater in Tel-Aviv; directing and translating “Gruesome Playground Injuries” by Rajiv Joseph for an Israeli debut production at Gesher theater; co-directing and editing (with his colleague Iftach Ophir) “Repertory Theatre” by Eldad Cohen for the Edinburgh Fringe Festivals of 2012 and 2013 and in Israel. “Repertory Theatre” won “Best Play” at the Israeli fringe awards, “Best Show” at the Stockholm fringe festival as well as at the Romania Comic fest and “Best Duo” at the Reykjavik fringe festival.
In 2010 Drigues co-wrote and performed in “1+1”, an original production at Gesher theater. This was adapted to screen in 2020 for Israel’s national TV broadcaster, as the award winning comedy “Rehearsals”, currently streaming in the US on HULU.
His stage acting accomplishments include: “Merchant of Venice” at Israel’s National HaBima theatre; “Tartuffe” by Moliere and “Twelfth Night” by Shakespeare at Gesher theater; “It Runs in the Family” by Ray Cooney at Tzavta Theater in Tel Aviv.
TV and cinema performances include: the award winning show “Pillars of Smoke” (two seasons) for Israeli cable television; “Confess” – a co-produced Israeli-German project for the internet; “Going through the Wall” (The Wedding Plan) – a feature film by acclaimed director Rama Burstein; and a leading role in “Rehearsals”.
