Ido Shpitalnik
Ido Shpitalnik, 29, is a conductor and pianist. He is the Founder and Music Director of the Jerusalem Street Orchestra – a young orchestra playing in public spaces and alternative venues, aiming to expose new audiences to classical music. Having studied in Israel and in Germany, Ido is now completing his M.A. in Orchestra Conducting at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, under Prof. Avner Biron.
Ido has performed as the Jerusalem Street Orchestra’s conductor in many open-air concerts and in various festivals, including the Israel Festival, “Sounds in the Desert Festival” in Sde Boker, the End of Summer Festival of the Jerusalem Theater, “Tuk-Tuk” Festival of the Jerusalem Season of Culture, The International Bach Festival in Jerusalem and others. In Germany, he conducted the orchestras: Leipziger Symphonieorchester, Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha, Berlin Sinfonietta, Brandenburger Symphoniker, and OPD Hochschulorchester. In 2016-2017, Ido will participate as a conductor in the Tedarim Project for contemporary music of the renowned Meitar Ensemble.
Ido is an America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship recipient in orchestra conducting.
