About Ilan Kav

Ilan graduated from The Jerusalem Academy High School of Music and Dance. Throughout his years at the Academy, Ilan was an AICF scholarship receiver. Ilan won the third place in the 2002 Maya Arbatova ballet competition in Israel. After attending summer programs abroad, Ilan decided to continue his ballet training in the United States. He trained at the School of American Ballet and San Francisco Ballet School where he was one of four boys chosen to be part of the San Francisco Ballet School Trainee Program and danced with San Francisco Ballet. Leading to his ballet training he joined the corp de ballet of Tulsa Ballet Theater. Between 2007 and 2009 Ilan had the opportunity to take part of the Dance Apprentice Network Across Europe program where he worked closely with the four directors: William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Frederic Flamand and Angelin Preljocaj. Since 2009 he danced for the Bern Ballet in Switzerland and worked with numerous choreographers. Recently Ilan decided to go back and dance in Israel.

“The America-Israel Cultural Foundation has been supporting me generously from a young age, and it was such a great honor to be invited into its big family. The foundation’s level of care is wonderful, and the financial support has always been just part of their expression of interest in my progress. I am so thankful that the foundation believed in my ability and, in a lot of ways, made the road I took much easier.”
