Pianist Itamar Prag is currently studying for a Music Doctorate degree in Piano Performance under Dr. Ilya Poletaev at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. He studied previously with Prof. Arie Vardi, Mrs. Hana Shalgi, Prof. Vadim Monastyrski, Prof. Asaf Zohar, and Dr. Daria Monastyrski.
Prag began his musical studies when he was 9 years old at the Givatayim Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Mrs. Hana Shalgi. He continued his musical studies at the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts.
As a soloist, Prag performed with leading Israeli orchestras, including The Israel Symphony Orchestra – Rishon Lezion, The Haifa Symphony Orchestra, and The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Also, Prag won an audition held by Maestro Zubin Mehta and performed with the BMSM Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Yoel Levi.
Prag has won several prizes in piano competitions in Israel and overseas including the first prize at the Pnina Salzman Piano Competition held in Israel, 2019. Prag has performed in recitals in Israel, U.S.A, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Czech Republic, France, Spain, and Georgia.
Prag has played in masterclasses with Murray Perahia, Richard Goode, John Perry, Piotr Paleczney, Eliso Virsaladze, Gabriel Kwok, and others.
Prag has received scholarships from The America-Israel Cultural Foundation (2006-2020) and Zefunot Culture, as well as a scholarship for young musicians in memory of Ruthy and Benny Mushkin.
