Jerusalem Dance Theater

The Jerusalem Dance Theater was founded in 1985 by choreographer Tamara Mielnik, a daughter of Holocaust survivors. Tamara’s vision was to build a framework for the development of modern dance in Jerusalem in order to connect between both cultures of dance and the capital. The company holds performances in Jerusalem, throughout the country and in various dance events such as Jerusalem Arts Festival and Jerusalem International Dance Week Showcase. The company also collaborates with international choreographers in order to present their universal Ideas.
Jerusalem Dance Theater is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sport, the Jerusalem Municipality and the Jerusalem Foundation.
Two years ago, Jerusalem Dance Theater appointed Eyal Nahum as artistic director.
Nahum has danced with many leading companies in Israel and abroad including the Israeli Ballet, Bat Dor, The Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company and more.
Nahum graduated from the American Ballet Theater national training curriculum and the Bolshoi teachers’ full training program. He holds a B.A degree in psychology with distinction from the Open University in Israel and M.A cum laude from the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. Nahum has performed in various festivals and workshops and is highly appreciated for his dance artistry and for his pedagogy as well.
