Katia Rabey
Katia Rabey was born in Moscow in 1989. She graduated the Russian State University for Humanities in 2012 as a specialist in literature and foreign languages, having written a thesis on a subject of folklore ritual and tradition of modern urban homebirth. On the last year of her education she took an intensive course of illustration at British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow. She then moved to Israel in January of 2013 with her mother. Later the same year she applied to Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art to study jewelry design.
Both illustration and literature made a comeback as Katia was exploring her personal language in jewelry. Even when making wearable objects she always prefers to tell stories, often using graphic language with clear shapes and bright colors. Her objects always have faces – literal or implied – and inherent sense of humor.
During her studies Katia participated in the exhibition “Ausgezeichnet! Most excellent!”, (Chemnitz, Germany, 2016) and “Next Jeneration Jewellery Talent Contest” (Vicenza, Italy, 2017).
She also received a scholarship from Ramat Gan Municipality (2017), Student Council of Shenkar (2017) and also recieved an Award for Outstanding Achievements presented by Uri Samet, the Head of the Jewelry Department of Shenkar.
