Lidor Ram Mesika, a versatile CounterBaritone (Countertenor and Baritone), was born in 2000 in Netanya, Israel. Currently pursuing his master’s degree under the guidance of Ms. Noa Frenkel at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Graduating from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance with distinction in both Vocal Performance, mentored by Ms. Anat Efraty and Dr. Zvi Semel, and Composition, under the tutelage of Prof. Haim Permont, Prof. Ari Ben-Shabetai, and Dr. Talia Amar. His pursuit of musical excellence led him to an enriching Erasmus exchange at the ‘Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Leipzig, from 2022 to 2023. A distinguished alumnus of the Netanya Conservatory and the program for outstanding young singers at the Jerusalem Music Center, Lidor's talent has transcended borders through participation in renowned summer programs such as the Tel Aviv International Summer Opera Program and the Graz International Summer Early Music Course directed by dame Emma Kirkby. His musical journey continues to unfold as he prepares to participate in the esteemed Berlin Opera Academy next summer.
Lidor's dedication to excellence has garnered him prestigious awards and scholarships, including the 'Young Artist Prize' in the esteemed Grandi Voci Competition held in Salzburg in February 2024, the Holland Scholarship for the years 2023-2025, and the esteemed 1st prize in the “Paul Ben-Haim” competition in 2020 and 2022 for his outstanding performances of Israeli contemporary music. Additionally, he is a Grant Awardee (summa cum laude) of AICF since 2018. In the realm of opera, Lidor has showcased his versatility through a myriad of roles, including Martino in Rossini’s 'L’occasione fa il Ladro', Polyphemus in 'Acis and Galatea' and Arcane in 'Teseo' by Handel, and Sorceress in 'Dido and Aeneas' by H. Purcell. He has graced prestigious stages such as La Traviata by Verdi with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, and portrayed iconic characters such as Count Almaviva in 'Le Nozze Di Figaro' and Papageno and Sprecher in 'Die Zauberflöte' by Mozart. Lidor has collaborated with esteemed organizations such as the Israeli Opera, the 'Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra', 'Barrocade Orchestra', and other leading ensembles in Israel. Beyond his classical repertoire, Lidor shares his musical talents worldwide through his folk music duo and serves as the soloist of ‘Mariachi Jerusalem’, highlighting his diverse musical palette and unwavering dedication to his craft.
