Lotem Fastman was born in Jerusalem, Israel. During her years at the primary school Gershon Agron in Kiryat Yovel, Lotem started to play the trumpet, under the guidance and teaching of Mr. Evgeny Kleiman. Upon proceeding to high school, Lotem changed her musical instrument to the French Horn, with which she was accepted to the High School Near the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Her teacher throughout the years of high school continued to be Mr. Kleiman.
During her high school years Lotem played as the only French Horn in Mr. Kleiman’s Big-Band “The Kleiman Band”. She also participated in the high school symphonic orchestra, most of the time as First Horn. She also played as First Horn in the high school’s wind orchestra.
At her last two years of school, Lotem participated in two Chamber ensembles as part of The David Goldman Program for Outstanding Young Musicians of the Jerusalem Music Center. During these two years, Lotem also played as First Horn in the Israeli National Youth Wind Orchestra.
