About Maya Perry

Maya Perry an artist/musician was b.1994 in NYC. At the age of 10 she moved to Israel, she now resides in Tel Aviv. She graduated in 2017 from Minshar School of Art (TLV). Her final year project won a grant from the America-Israel cultural foundation. In 2019, Maya participated in a group exhibition “Zoom” in the Steinhart Museum of Natural History and was the winner of the “Zoom” Prize.

Her work focuses on post-trauma as the foundation of her artistic practice: her goal is to translate her personal traumas into universal expressions encouraging the viewer to raise crucial questions about themselves from the perspective of a non-judgmental, hypersensitive, heart-beating animal. By highlighting how moments of intimacy and vulnerability intersect with memories of violence and manipulation, she explores how imbedded trauma affects us as individuals and as a society. She uses a wide variety of techniques for whatever the project may require. (drawing, sound, animation, writing, performance, installation and more).
