Mira Cedar

Although Mira has been painting since a young age, she never felt as a painter until she visited Kassel’s Documenta in 1982, the age of ‘back to painting’.
There, suddenly, in one click, she understood that this is her place.
Starting with realistic paintings and drawings from photographs and observation, then moving into abstract and that took its shape when Mira got acquainted with the E.E.G. test. She found the graphic description of Epileptic attacks to be haunting, and so it happened that the ‘line’ is the main subject of her abstracts.
Her natural composition is the all-over one. It is as if she describes a piece, one frame from an endless two dimensional world. The abstract is the perfect two-dimensional world!
At the same time she created realistic and semi-realistic paintings. Every technic or material got expressed in those two ways, sometimes two series at the same time.
