Noa Gabay
Noa Gabay was born in Israel and grew up in Wales, UK. She began playing the harp at age 5 and is currently studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance with Prof. Florence Sitruk at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, Switzerland. Her past teachers have included Katherine Thomas, Prof. Caryl Thomas and Julia Rovinsky.
Since 2013, Noa is a recipient of the America-Israel Culture Foundation’s biennial excellence scholarship. In addition, she has received scholarships from the Zefunot Culture Foundation (Israel), the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation (Switzerland) and the Leverhulme Trust (UK). She was also a recipient of the New Horizons Fellowship of the Aspen Music Festival and School (Colorado, US).
Noa won numerous national competitions in Wales and Israel and has received prizes in international competitions; Hungary International Harp Competition, Concours Francais de la Harpe, Thailand International Harp Competition and Llangollen International Music Festival Competition. Her debut as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was in 2015, at age 17. She has performed numerous times on Israeli and British national television and radio, and also performed on NPR’s radio program “From The Top” which was broadcasted throughout the US.
Noa will perform a recital as part of the Focus On Youth concert series at the World Harp Congress in Hong Kong in the summer of 2017.
As an orchestral player, Noa was the principal harpist of the Israel National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Haute École de Musique de Genève. She has performed in masterclasses with Germaine Lorenzini, Jana Bouskova, Sivan Magen and Chantal Mathieu.
