Peridance Contemporary Dance Company (PCDC) is committed to leadership in performance and creative collaboration among high-caliber dancers, choreographers, composers, musicians, and designers. The company aspires to advance the performing arts in New York City, as well as nationally and internationally, through its performance and outreach programs.
New York City’s Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, led by Founder and Artistic Director Igal Perry and Executive Director Yarden Ronen-van Heerden, has been a powerhouse of expressive and athletic dance since 1984. Operating from its home at the renowned Peridance Capezio Center in Union Square, the company presents an annual New York Season at the Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance. In addition to Perry’s signature works, described by the NY Times as “blessedly inventive,” PCDC annually commissions notable guest choreographers and collaborators.
In the past five years, PCDC’s domestic and international tours have brought contemporary dance to over 48,000 audience members around the globe at festivals and venues such as the Ent Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs, Jacob’s Pillow, Spring to Dance St. Louis, the Staller Center at Stonybrook University, the Butler Arts Center in Indianapolis, the Suzanne Dellal Dance Centre for Dance and Theater in Tel Aviv, Ballet Internacional de Buenos Aires, Florence Dance Festival, Seoul International Dance Festival, and many more.
PCDC provides access to free dance workshops for children in low-income and immigrant communities through its outreach program, Dance Break. The company continuously offers free classes and outdoor performances through organizations such as CityParks’ SummerStage, Broadway Cares, and the Union Square Partnership.
PCDC is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Harkness Foundation, Google, the Jewish Communal Fund and many individual donors.
