Shelly Reich

Shelly Reich (born in 1987, Jerusalem, Israel) is a Tel Aviv based artist. She received her BFA in 2011 and MFA in 2018 (with honors), both from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem.
Shelly uses painting as a tool to invoke a stream of consciousness or to create grand, dream landscapes, investigating the vague or the irrational. Her approach to the medium of painting can be compared to the spirit of a free jazz musician, leaning on gut feelings and intuition, yet precise and particular in its intentions. Working with a minimal, almost ‘childlike’ or naïve palette, Shelly’s works tend to touch on inner worlds, racial and gender issues, everyday life and personal experiences, all filtered out through the realms of her own vision.
Noteworthy exhibitions include solo shows in Hahanut 31 Gallery and The Left Bank Tel Aviv, group shows in Bar David Museum of Arts, The Kupferman Collection Gallery, Hanina Gallery, and Hacubia Gallery.
Reich received The Bezalel Excellency Award (2018) and the international Master Art Prize (2019).
