Shir Zehavy
Shir, a vocalist, flutist and singer-songwriter in her 20’s, was born in Petach-Tiqva, Israel. She graduated from the Petach Tiqva Conservatory (Classical Flute training), as well as from the Rimon School of Music in Israel (General Performance Diploma) and Berklee College of Music (B.A. in Professional Music, Magna Cum Laude). Shir also served in the IDF orchestra as a lead vocalist of the orchestra and toured with Matti Caspi and Riki Gal for two years with their show “Ma Zot Ahava” (What is Love).
Shir is now performing with her band SHEER all over NYC. With her original pieces and musical production by Lior Tzemach, Shir combined her Iranian and Iraqi roots with an electronic production that combines Jazz, Middle Eastern and Hip-Hop music. Her last big performance was at Festival Da Jazz in Switzerland, playing in a program that included Avishai Cohen, Diana Krall and Marcus Miller.
Shir has a Jewish-Israeli band for events (in temples, weddings/events and formal ceremonies) and a Jazz trio/duo that play Jazz arrangements to classic covers and well-known standards ,mostly in Jazz venues and restaurants but also at private events. She’s also teaches private lessons in Flute, Voice and Keyboard.
