Shira Mani-Sror
Israeli born Cellist Shira Mani is a new member of the Toronto musician community. In the 2019-2020 season, she was invited to play in the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Esprit Orchestra as well as in various concerts in Europe. She continues taking part in concerts as a valued member of the Israel contemporary players and as the initiator and co-artistic director of “Chamber Visits”, a chamber music concert series in Kefar Blum.
Prior to her move to Canada, Shira also played with Meitar Ensamble, was the principal Cellist of the Netanya Kibbutz Orchestra, and played in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israeli Opera and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra among others. Shira graduated with distinction from the Buchman Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University in the class of Hillel Zori, and earned a Masters degree from the New England Conservatory in Boston, where she studied under Laurence Lesser. After her studies Shira became a member of the New World Symphony and participated in prestigious music festivals such as the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra, Schleswig Holstein Music Festival and Sarasota Music festival. Shira was supported by the AICF and the Ronen Foundation.
