Shlomit Levi

Renowned Israeli singer, Shlomit Levi grew up surrounded by the culture and music of her ancestral home of Yemen which remains her main musical influence. She has so mastered the craft of Yemenite singing that The Jerusalem Post lauded her as “the new Ofra Haza.”
Shlomit is “the Golden voice” of Israel’s celebrated, oriental, metal band, Orphaned Land and is featured on their hit single “Sapari,” a 400-year-old Yemenite chant, which she introduced to the band. Shlomit has also been a featured singer with Boaz Sharabi, worked with Eti Ankery and Idan Reichel and opened up with Orphaned Land for “Metallica”.
In 2013, Shlomit moved to the US, with the release of “The Seal of Solomon” album, produced by world music producer and recording artist, RebbeSoul. Their project Shlomit & RebbeSoul, fuses the sounds of her Yemenite ancestors with electronica and rock, defying traditional, cultural and musical boundaries. With Orphaned Land and the Shlomit & RebbeSoul band, she toured Europe, Israel, and North America.
Shlomit is also a leading lecturer of Yemenite music, teaching for numerous organizations and communities in Israel, the UK and the US.
During the pandemic, Shlomit & RebbeSoul released a new single & video “Bereshit” (Genesis), a song based on the transformative work of Yael Kanarek’s “Toratah” (Her Torah) – that is re-gendering the Bible and its characters.
