Tal Gottdiner

Tal studied Clarinet and Composition at the Or-Yehuda Conservatory and graduated "Ben-Zvi" High School's Music Major in Kiryat-Ono.

Tal began his Clarinet studies with Mrs. Noa Figer-Biran in 2012, and his Composition studies with Dr. Hana Ajiashvilli in 2010. In 2017, Tal began studying with Mr. Ron Selka privately, with whom he studied until he finished his military service.
Tal has also studied Piano between the years 2006 and 2012. In 2020-2021 he studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Prof. Björn Nyman and Mr. Fredrik Fors. Today he is studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Clarinet Performance at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Prof. Harri Mäki and Mr. Kari Kriikku.

Tal participated in the "Bnei Ha'Kibbutzim" youth symphonic band conducted by Ofer Ein-Ha'Bar and Yair Mashiach, and in the Or-Yehuda Conservatory's youth orchestra conducted by Kobi Lilian between the years 2013-2017.

He played in many concerts on behalf of the music major and the Or-Yehuda Conservatory. In 2017-2020, Tal served as a Clarinet player in the IDF Orchestra, where he played also as a soloist and in chamber groups. At the Sibelius Academy, he participates regularly in various orchestral projects conducted by Sakari Oramo, and Petri Komulainen.

Later on, Tal participated in the LEAD! Festival in Fiskars where he played in the orchestra under Jukka-Pekka Saraste and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Tal frequently plays as a freelancer with various orchestras such as the Finnish Radio Orchestra, Finnish National Opera, Sinfonia Lahti and Tapiola Sinfonietta.

Tal is a three times winner of the Or Yehuda Conservatory 'Or Tzair' scholarship competition (1st place in 2014, 2nd place in 2015 and 1st place in 2016). He also won the "Aviv" competition in Ra'anana both in 2017 and 2018. In 2017 Tal got a Certificate of appreciation from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. In 2023 he won the excellence scholarships from both Wegelius Foundation and America-Israel Cultural Foundation.

Tal has participated in many masterclasses and festivals such as the International Klezmer Festival in Jerusalem and the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. Among the teachers he studied with are Eva Wasserman-Margolis, Martin Fröst, Charles Neidich, Philippe Cuper, Shirley Brill, François Benda, Lorenzo Coppola, Christoffer Sundqvist and Kilian Herold. As a composition student Tal also participated in the workshops with Dr. Richard Carrick and in 2023 his piece “Two Scenes of Desert” won the second prize in the Israel Conservatory of Music’s composition competition.
