The Jerusalem Street Orchestra
The Jerusalem Street Orchestra
The Jerusalem Street Orchestra is a professional chamber orchestra playing classical concerts in alternative spaces and various public places, with its mandate to expose new audiences to classical music.
Since its founding in 2013, the orchestra has performed hundreds of open-air concerts and in many spaces across Jerusalem – from Shimon Barzilai’s garage in Talpiot and a festival in the commercial center in the heart of the city, to hundreds of concerts in the streets and at renowned festivals in Israel (The Israel Festival, Israel Film Festival, Rooftop Music Festival and more).
This year marks the orchestra’s 10th anniversary. Over the years, it has become fertile ground for crafting creative projects of high artistic and social value—bringing classical music to unexplored and unconventional areas and to broad audiences of all ages, backgrounds and genders. Throughout the last decade, the orchestra has collaborated with many bands and artists including Arkadi Duchin, Yaron London, Shai Tsabari, Shlomi Shabat and Alex Ansky, among others.
