Yair Avidor
Yair was born in Tel Aviv where he grew up. He plays renaissance and baroque lute, early guitars and the theorbo (Chitarone).
He studied at the Hochschule fur Kunste, Bremen with Stephen Stubbs, was a Fodella Scholarship holder at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan and completed his Masters at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
He has played continuo with many distinguished orchestras and ensembles such as the Academy of Ancient Music, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the OAE and he has recorded with I Barrochisti (Switzerland) and Ensemble Galatea (Italy).
He has collaborated with singers such as John Potter and Clara Sanabras and is a founding member of the Amphion Consort. In the pipeline is a project with leading the UK-based Israeli Jazz musician Gilad Atzmon.
Apart from early music he finds inspiration in Jazz and Indian music.
Currently, Yair Avidor is a lutenist, guitarist and theorbo player based in London.
He is a member of the Amphion Consort and A Musical Dreame and plays in the Nigel Kennedy Band (mostly the baroque stuff).
