Yonatan Shenkar

Yonatan Shenkar is a multi-disciplinary musician, writing and performing music for the concert hall, cinema and theater, jazz ensembles and more. Born in 1985 in Israel, He began studying jazz piano and composition at 13. After 5 years of army service a first lieutenant in the air-force, Yonatan continued to study jazz composition and went on to accomplish his Master in classical composition and conducting as well at the Jerusalem academy of music and dance:

Yonatan studied mainly under the honorable composer Dr. Josef Bardanashvili and participated in master-classes with Mr. Thomas Adess, Mrs. Chaya Czernowin, Professor Tzvi Avni and more. Yonatan Worked as an assistant to Mr. Ilan Mochiach in different orchestral projects including the Israeli Philharmonic orchestra and Rishon Lezion Symphony orchestra.
on October 2018 His symphonic piece “0/1 ” was performed by the Taiwan national symphony orchestra in the opening night of Asia’s composer’s festival – ACL’s 35th Asian composers league festival,
Yonatan’s compositions and arrangements were performed the Rishon Lezion symphony orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Haifa symphony orchestra, ensemble Meitar, and more. In 2014 Yonatan was awarded the AICF scholarship for composition. In 2016 Yonatan served as a composition guide (artist in residence) in an international composition workshop in collaboration with the Lincoln center new-York under Prof. Richard Carrick.
Yonatan works as a Composer, arranger, and pianist and Music director, composing and arranging for orchestras and chamber settings, film scoring. In addition Yonatan is an active educator and lecturer who teaches a variety of musical subjects.
