Baby with the Bathwater. Written by Christopher Durang. Directed by Shiri Lotan
The show, directed by Shiri Lotan, combines recorded video art alongside a live video
An absurd play that has never been performed in Israel;
A baby is born into a complex reality: His parents make every possible mistake, including hiring a non-normative nanny who, for example, administers tranquilizers to the baby, and much more. On top of that, a woman whose dog has eaten her baby arrives and tries to kidnap the baby. In the show I ask how early life events shape one later in his life; Are we born into a certain trajectory from which we cannot escape (like the spiral circle from which the stage is built)? Or is this trajectory just an illusion that once we shatter it, we will be free from past experiences and definitions?
The show combines recorded video art alongside a live video. The live video represents the baby’s angle of view and his subconscious throughout the show.
