Contemporary Encounters by Meitar Ensemble (CEME)

The concluding concert of CEME 2023 features pieces by two internationally acclaimed Israel-born composers, Chaya Czernowin and Yair Klartag - honorary guests of this edition of the festival.
Chaya Czernowin, the Walter Bigelow Rosen Professor of Music at Harvard University and the winner of the 2003 Ernst von Siemens Composers’ Prize is a highly influential composer and composition teacher. Yair Klartag is a recent winner of the 2021 Ernst von Siemens Composers’ Prize and of the 61. Kompositionspreis der Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart.
Czernowin and Klartag will lead together the 2023 CEME composition course, with 18 students from all over the world. The concluding concert will be preceded by a concert introducing new pieces written by the course participants specifically for this event.
