An exhibition on the occasion of the Jubilee Year “1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany”.
Opening: Friday, 27th of August, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.
ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery, Schlossplatz 1-2, 36419 Geisa,
In the retrospective exhibition “The Stars of Geisa”, the Berlin-based artist Dikla Stern presents socially critical paintings and collages from the last ten years, as well as a special piece produced for the exhibition at the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery. The exploration of society in the context of the charged dichotomy between power and oppression, law and freedom, is sometimes discreetly, but sometimes also entirely directly, a constant in the works of DIKLA STERN.
On the occasion of the jubilee 1700 years of Jewish life in Germany (JLID 2021), the granddaughter of Albert Stern (*30.07.1916 in Geisa †27.08.1985 in Tel Aviv) also provides insights into family history: photos and correspondence of her great-great-grandparents in Geisa, documents and film footage of her grandfather’s flight to Israel, bear witness to Jewish culture in Geisa.
