Falkenrot Prize winner 2019 is the Berlin-based artist Erez Israeli. His exhibition Black Milk brings together the works of the last two years, which the artist made especially for the exhibition.
Israeli multi-faceted, multimedia works on the topics of the Holocaust and anti-Semitism, but also the inseparable link between European and Jewish culture.
In various provocative ways, the artist addresses collective responsibility, racism or the old and new right-wing populism, as well as a routine, exhaustive culture of remembrance or the current political situation in Israel and Palestine. Body and sexuality, stereotypical historical and gender instructions play a central role in this and express his firm rejection of any form of oppression and exclusion.
