Jaffa Theatre Tour in Morocco
For the first time, an Israeli theatre will perform in Morocco as Jaffa Theatre will take the shows "Oum Kalthoum", "Farid El Atrash", and "Papag’ina" to the kingdom's main cities.
In honor of the 'Abraham Accord' and newly established diplomatic relationship between Morocco and Israel, director of the Jaffa Theatre Igal Ezraty contacted Yassine Othman, chairperson of AKAL, a Moroccan NGO based in Geneva.
This connection reached Moroccan producer Abdellatif Afoud and the Rabat National Mohammed V Theatre, starting the Jaffa Rabat Partnership Project. A continuous joint production was established between the two theatres, by Jewish Moroccan playwrights promoting collaboration between artistic communities in Israel and Morocco. Two additional theatres joined the tour, that runs three shows in Morocco.
The tour will include three performances at each of the following cities: Rabat, Casablanca, and Marrakesh. It will be the first time an Israeli theatre will perform in Morocco.
Following the shows, discussions and dialogues with artists and creators will take place to promote collaboration between artistic communities in Israel and Morocco. These discussions aim to create sustainable bonds and offer positive experiences to multi-cultural audiences to develop economic and cultural ties.
