My Family – Yiddish in Amsterdam
An evening filled with wellbeing, jokes, and soul in Yiddish that takes the audience back to Jewish Amsterdam
What makes Jewish humor so recognizable? What does the sound of an old Jewish melody or an old folktale, a ‘majse’ mean to the Dutch people in 2019? Mijn misjpoge (my family) is an evening filled with 'naches' (wellbeing), ‘geintjes’ (jokes) and 'nesjome' (soul), that takes the audience back to the time when Yiddish was still the main language within Jewish Amsterdam. This musical theatre piece features Mike Burstyn, Roi Shabbat, Avivit Ben Moshe and Erga Netz.
