Online Exhibition: Seated in Seclusion
The exhibition documents chairs accompanied by quotes attributed to Rabbi Nachman
Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav believed a regular practice of hitbodedut – self-secluded prayer and introspection in special chairs – was perhaps the most important element in one’s relationship with God. The exhibition Seated in Seclusion documents these chairs and juxtaposes them with chairs created by contemporary designers, accompanied by quotes attributed to Rabbi Nachman. With the Israel Museum in Jerusalem closed, you can still visit the guided tour online, hosted by curators Sharon Weiser-Ferguson and Eran Lederman.
