OVERREACTING: Jewelry Speaks Feminism & Gender

Nine artists from Israel discuss gender roles, body image, femininity and a woman’s place in society using jewelry as their language of expression.
Contrary to popular opinion that women are often “too dramatic” and associated with qualities such as hysteria and overreacting- we celebrate the stamina that comes with such emotion turning it into art, a means for us to be heard - a virtue, not a weakness.

Jewelry has always been a means to make a statement - even the most commercial of pieces. Contemporary jewelry is even more articulate in that matter – sometimes even more articulate than words themselves.
The name for this exhibition refers to popular opinion that women are often “too dramatic”, associated with qualities such as hysteria and overreacting.

We celebrate the stamina that comes with such emotions turning it into art, a means for us to be heard - a virtue, not a weakness.
