Playshop, Movement Workshop with Tamar Ettun

workshop and conversation with artist Tamar Ettun, held as an international video conference call

Join Artis from anywhere around the world for Playshop, a movement workshop and conversation with artist Tamar Ettun, held as an international video conference call. Rooted in writings by philosopher Emmanuel Levinas about the significance of in-person, human interactions needed to feel compassion towards others, Ettun’s workshop invites participants to engage remotely, or wherever they may be, in playful, experimental movement that considers how bodies move together, and alone, as an expression of healing. Using fruit and household items as props for the exercises, Ettun will lead participants through a series of multisensory movements, followed by a facilitated and inclusive conversation, centered on the question: What is empathy in our current moment of social distancing?

Tamar Ettun is a sculptor and performance artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Ettun received her MFA from Yale University in 2010 where she was awarded the Alice English Kimball Fellowship. She studied at Cooper Union in 2007, while earning her BFA from Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem. She has had exhibitions and performances at Pioneer Works, PERFORMA, Sculpture Center, Madison Square Park, Art Omi Sculpture Garden, The Barrick Museum UNLV, The Watermill Center, e-flux, Herzelia Biennial, Knockdown Center, Bryant Park, Socrates Sculpture Park, Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Jewish Museum, Uppsala Art Museum, Fridman Gallery, Braverman Gallery, among others.
