Pop Up Exhibition by Nitzan Hamerman

The works in the exhibition are a series of paintings made during and after the lockdown

A three-day pop-up exhibition at the Nolobaz Gallery will exhibit contemporary paintings by Nitzan Hamerman. The works in the exhibition are a series of paintings made during and after the lockdown.

Though for many the period of lockdown was traumatic, for some, it was a period of calm and tranquility, of domestic activities, of journeys from the living room to the kitchen and back, along with contemplating inward and reflecting on the apocalypse of the world and society. When this period ended, the so-called real world came back with all its disillusion, noise, and disturbance.

The subjects of the works in this exhibition move accordingly, from small minor works that talk about the day-to-day household activities around the kitchen, depicting fruit and vegetable peels as painting tradition does (but without meat), as well as works with pompous thoughts about the end of the world.

The other group of paintings was affected by the end of the lockdown. From the minute lockdown rules were lifted, the daily nightmare crept into the works and the paintings begin to populate with fleshy and distressed figures, as unrest entered the works.
