Things To Buy In Kazimierz by Hadassa Goldvicht in Krakow
Hadassa Goldvicht's work Things To Buy In Kazimierz to be presented in Krakow Jewish Festival
As part of the Jewish Festival in Krakow, The artist Hadassa Goldvicht will be presenting the piece Things to buy in Kazimierz.
The piece consists of ten parts - letters, lists, and essays, each one very different from the other, which together form a kind of unusual tour throughout the Kazimierz district.
The letters and essays are of a personal nature, portraying grief, motherhood and a specific kind of humor that comes and goes, just as it does in life. Throughout the piece, Goldvicht attempts to read and decode Kazimierz as one would attempt to open the black box of an airplane, observing the various ways in which Kazimierz’s economy relies and benefits from its Jewish past, and delving into Kazimierz’ uniqueness, the way it functions as a portal of sorts, transforming and transporting its visitors.
