The Israeli Cartoon Museum in Holon is holding a new exhibition Yiddishpitz. This project displays for the first time the imprint of the Yiddish language and its culture on 63 cartoonists, comics artists and animators from the founding of the state to our day in the Hebrew press and cinema as well as original works and interpretations of folk sayings, Yiddish words, literary masterpieces, famous writers, musicians and folklore, which were drawn especially for the show.
This thirteen hundred year old dialect, the oldest language of the Jewish diaspora, is still serving as a medium and an inspiration for artists in Israel and around the world. The exhibit displays a fascinating array of artists, full of visual richness, humor and wit.
