The Eyal Vilner Big Band Hanukkah Project offers a new and original way to celebrate the beautiful repertoire of traditional Hanukkah songs. The CD includes 4 songs and a Prelude arranged for a 16-piece jazz big band, a vocal trio, and a special guest – the Israeli flautist Itai Kris. This music is a unique blend of traditional holiday melodies influenced by jazz and swing, Israeli, Jewish and Middle Eastern music as well as Brazilian Choro and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
The CD was recorded at the Museum at Eldridge Street, a stunning building from 1887 that’s considered a National Historic Landmark. The acoustics are fantastic and add such a special touch to the recording.
There will be two CD release shows in December at the Brotherhood Synagogue and at Museum at Eldridge Street.
