Dan Pugach Wins Prestigious Prizes at BMI’s 31st Jazz Composers Workshop Showcase

Drummer and composer Dan Pugach won the Charlie Parker Prize, as well as the Manny Albam Commission award, at BMI’s 31st Jazz Composers Workshop Showcase held on June 12th.

The prize and award were given for his piece “Bianca”, played alongside eight others: Michael Thomas’s “Green Light,” Meg Okura’s “Jewberish Folk Songs,” Todd Anderson’s “Doom,” Tracy Yang’s “Melting Arctic,” Ann Belmont’s “Sway and Forget,” Jinmi Kim’s “Lost in a Moment,” Matt Horanzy’s “Opportunity” and Elijah Shiffer’s “Beware of This and That.”
