Evgenii Petrushanskii

Evgenii Petrushanskii is an independent documentary and portrait photographer and an executive music producer based in Tel Aviv.

Born in Saint Petersburg, he graduated from ITMO University in 2006 with a master's degree in hardware engineering. The same year, he began working professionally as a photographer, producing bodies of work for print and online publications such as Forbes, Snob, Russian Reporter, Afisha, Port, Cashmere and Silk, L’Officiel, and Esquire.

He was commissioned for social documentary assignments, including features on the Trans-Siberian Railway, Dagestani wrestlers, Ukrainian women at the dawn of the Maidan revolution, the Royal Academy of Russian Ballet, and the Giro d'Italia Anniversary Race.

Petrushanskii was also commissioned for portrait assignments, photographing Brian Eno, Eduard Limonov, and Antony Gormley, among others, as well as for a project about WWII veterans and a centennial project on the actors of the Big Drama Theatre in Saint Petersburg.

Petrushanskii’s personal projects include series of works from unrecognized states (Karabakh, Transnistria, and Northern Cyprus), Kresty Prison in Saint Petersburg, Tibet, and Southeast and Central Asia. He is currently working on personal exhibition projects about addiction, depression, and mental health, as well as a book about his parents, family roots, and death.

After relocating to Tel Aviv in 2022, Petrushanskii successfully introduced himself to the local art world. That same year, he became one of the founding members of Grosso Modo Gallery in Tel Aviv and presented his solo exhibition, Luna Volta, in March 2023.

Petrushanskii was a recipient of grants from the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation and the Dudu Dotan Aid Fund for Artists in 2024. That same year, he participated in the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop XXXVII and is an alumnus of the ICP 2025 One-Year Online Program.

Since March 2025, Petrushanskii has been a member of the Indie Photography Group Gallery in Tel Aviv.
