Why I Chose to Make a Legacy Gift

“My passion for classical music and Israel led me to bring Israeli virtuosos to the U.S. after attending the Aviv Competitions in Tel Aviv. Hosting these incredible musicians has been one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life. I feel as though they are all my children. Because of these deep connections and AICF’s vital role in helping them achieve excellence, I chose to include AICF in my trust, with the hope of supporting future generations of Israeli artists.”– July Teper Galper

Bequests (Wills and Living Trusts)

Including AICF in your will or living trust is one of the most meaningful ways to ensure your values live on. You can choose to leave a specific amount or percentage of your estate to support the next generation of Israeli artists. This type of gift costs nothing during your lifetime and can be changed at any time.

Sample Will Language: “I give, devise, and bequeath [specific dollar amount/percentage/residue] to the America-Israel Cultural Foundation (AICF), EIN 13-1664048, located at 178 Columbus Avenue, PO Box 237133, New York, NY 10023, for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose.”

Retirement Accounts (IRA, 401(k), etc.)

Naming AICF as a beneficiary of your retirement assets — such as an IRA or 401(k) — can be a tax-efficient way to make a legacy gift. These accounts are often taxed when passed to heirs, but charitable organizations like AICF can receive them tax-free.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

If you’re 70½ or older, you can donate up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA to AICF without incurring income tax. These gifts can also count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD). To make a QCD, contact your IRA administrator and provide AICF’s legal name and EIN (13-1664048).

Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)

You can name AICF as the beneficiary of your DAF, either in full or in part. Many donors also make recurring gifts from their DAFs during their lifetime. To get started, contact your DAF provider or visit the Donor Advised Funds page.

Life Insurance

Naming AICF as a primary or contingent beneficiary of your life insurance policy is a powerful way to create a legacy. You can also transfer ownership of an existing policy to AICF.

Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs)

A CRT allows you to provide income to yourself or loved ones for life (or a set term), with the remaining assets going to AICF. This giving vehicle may offer significant tax benefits while helping secure AICF’s future.
