Alma Sonenshtain

Born in Tel-Aviv in 2001, Alma is currently studying for her M.A. with Philippe Bernold in the CNSMDP.

Alma started studying flute at the age of 9, and completed her B.A. in flute performance at The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in the class of Guy Eshed and Yossi Arnheim. At the age of 15 she began participating in the David Goldman Program for Outstanding Young Musicians and in The Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra of the Jerusalem Music Center.

Alma has played in leading orchestras in Israel, such as the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. She participated in the annual summer academy of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, in the Zermatt Music Festival and Academy, and is participating in the 2024 summer tour of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.

Alma participated in masterclasses with international flute players like Emmanuel Pahud, Kersten McCall, Vincent Lucas and Julien Beaudiment.

Alma won several competitions, such as first prize and special "Ernesto Kohler" prize of the “Severino Gazzelloni” flute competition (2021), special prize of Cluj International Flute Competition (2023), and first prize in The BMSM wind competition (2021).

Alma received AICF scholarships of excellence for the years of 2019-2024.
