Alon Benjamini

Alon Benjamini, a drummer and composer, was born in 1996. He lives in New York City, and graduated from the jazz department at Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts. In 2011, Alon won the Israeli Musicians’ Union Competition for Ensembles, with an ensemble he had formed. His and 5 others were chosen from 66 different ensembles that participated. In 2012, Alon participated at the Red Sea Jazz Festival. In 2012 and 2013, Alon was chosen to perform at the Golden Scholarship ceremony of the Israeli Musicians’ Union. Between June 2014 and March 2015, Alon played in Ofer Ganor’s Trio.
In the last two years Alon performed with many great musicians, such as: Reginald Workman, Avishai Cohen, Yotam Silberstein, Aaron Goldberg, Sam Yahel, Omer Avital, and many others. In 2014 and 2016 Alon received a scholarship from the America Israel Cultural Foundation. Alon is currently studying at the New School in New York. In 2016 Alon played at the Red Sea Jazz Festival with Yuval Cohen’s Chamber Jazz Project. In 2017 Alon played at the Bern International Jazz Festival in Bern, Switzerland. Alon played at the Red Sea Jazz Festival with Erez Barnoy’s Sextet. In the last few years Alon has been working on a regular basis with his own band playing his original music and arrangements.
