Alon Stern is an accomplished bass player, composer, arranger, and music educator who combines performance excellence with educational innovation and artistic leadership. With a Master's degree in Music Education, he has built a diverse career spanning performance, composition, production, education, and social entrepreneurship.
As a bass player in Atempo, an internationally acclaimed modern jazz piano trio, he explores the boundaries of the genre with global influences. He has performed with the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva and participated in various musical productions. His musical director and conductor work includes a special performance with the Chamber Orchestra celebrating Orphaned Land's 30th anniversary. Additionally, he has collaborated on numerous musical projects, including Orphaned Land with the Israeli Opera. His career includes significant performances with various ensembles and orchestras in productions such as Cats, 1776, and The Yeomen of the Guard. An active performer, composer, arranger, and music producer in local and international music scenes, he also serves as a board member of the Jazz Way in Israel Association.
Beyond performance, Stern has played a pivotal role in music education. He served as Director of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipal Music Center and led the Sha'ar HaNegev Conservatory. He has founded and managed multiple music education institutions across Israel and currently serves as Pedagogical Director at Arcana Instruments, the company that develops musical instruments for people with special needs. He also works as a strategic consultant in music education.
His unique combination of expertise as a bassist, composer, and producer, alongside his leadership in education, has allowed him to make significant contributions to both the performing arts and music education sectors in Israel. Through his work with Arcana Instruments, he continues to bridge the gap between musical performance and accessibility, ensuring that music education reaches diverse populations. As a member of Atempo, he continues pushing modern jazz's boundaries while maintaining his commitment to musical innovation and education.
