Doron Hazan
Doron began his saxophone studies with Gan Lev, Gersh Geller and Boris Gamer at Hassadna Conservatory of Music in Jerusalem and continued his studies with Jean-Denis Michat at the Lyon Conservatory of Music.
Today, Doron studies with Arno Bornkamp and Willem van Merwijk at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music.
Labeled “A born saxophonist” by the French composer and saxophonist Jean-Denis Michat, Doron has already won multiple First Prizes and awards in ten countries, among them: the America-Israel Cultural Fund National Scholarship Competition (Israel), “Soloist of the Future” Award (Israel), 1st Prize at the Paul Ben-Haim Israeli Music Competition (Israel), 1st Prize at the European Saxophone Forum (Poland), 1st Prize at the 7th “Vitor Santos” International Saxophone Competition (Portugal), 1st Prize at the 1st “Oberton” International Solo Competition (Austria), Carnegie Hall Auditions (New York), Prix d’Honneur (Saxophone) at the 96th Leopold Bellan International Music Competition (France), 1st Prize at the 10th Larissa International Saxophone Competition (Greece), 1st Prize (Saxophone) at the International Anton Rubinstein Competition (Germany), Premio virtuositè of the 20th City of Padova International Music Competition (Italy), and the Hans Schaeuble Award of the Arosa Music Academy (Switzerland).
Doron participates regularly in international music festivals and masterclasses and performs in central musical venues, including performances as soloist with the Ramat-Gan Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphonic Band of the Portuguese Police, the Accordi Musicali String Ensemble, the Oberton String Ensemble, and the New York Chamber Players Orchestra at the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York.
