Efrat Baler-Moses
Born in Jerusalem in 1960, Efrat Baler-Moses, also known as Effi, is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist and a dual national of the United States and Israel. Early years included residencies in Winnipeg, Canada, and Boston, USA. From a young age, Efrat has been actively creating and exhibiting art. She had two solo shows sponsored by the Jerusalem Municipality. Notably, she was part of a young art ambassadors' delegation to Austria and France, organized by the Municipality.
At the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, Efrat pursued Sculpture and Painting, earning a BFA. She was recipient of the American-Israeli Culture Foundation grant and was recognized as one of the promising artists of the 80s by Philip Lieder (critic and founding editor of ARTFORUM), during the 1990 inauguration publication of Bezalel's new campus.
Efrat relocated to New York in 1993 to further her artistic practice. She has also lectured on the history of Israeli art and her own artworks as part of the Scholar in Residence Series at the San Francisco Library and as a guest lecturer at other prestigious West Coast institutions, including San Francisco State University, San Jose State University, the University of California, the University of Berkeley, and Congregation Sherith Israel.
Alongside her artistic career, Efrat held educational roles in New York City, Brooklyn, and Jerusalem. Notably, she served as the administrator at the Tate Americas Foundation.
Throughout her career, Efrat has participated in over 60 group exhibitions and six solo shows in the US, Israel, and Germany, earning Honorable Mention and critic’s awards, and her artworks are in private collections. Currently, Efrat devotes herself full-time to her artistic practice and has relocated her studio from Brooklyn to a larger space in Long Beach, NY.
