|The NY based trio led by flutist and composer Hadar Noiberg (ASCAP award winner) has had a tremendous success at various festivals and performances globally. “From the Ground Up” is Hadar Noiberg’s second CD as a band leader and is featuring her trio- drummer Allison Miller, (Ani Difranco, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Natalie Merchant), bassist Haggai Cohen Milo and guests clarinetist Anat Cohen and guitarist Yotam Silberstein. Noiberg fuses styles seamlessly between jazz and world music, and is distinguishing herself as both innovative and highly skilled in the jazz and world music scenes nationally and internationally.
Noiberg’s trio is a ‘Power Trio’- tight and full of groove and passion. The daring and unique instrumentation of flute, double bass and drums allows sliding in and out of Jazz improvisation and Western harmonies with Middle Eastern and North African rhythms and semitones. The music of the new CD is fresh, spunky and boundary pushing- blending simple ‘folky’ melodies with intense development, soloing and communication. Being a jazz musician with a vast Classical background and experience in playing Cuban, Brazilian and Middle Eastern styles, Hadar brings all that to the table while also using effects and loops, both in her compositions and improvisation creating her own distinctive voice. “From The Ground Up” will be released this September under US/European label Dot Time Records with a comprehensive marketing and publicity effort in both the US and Europe.
The trio was featured last April at Europe’s biggest jazz showcase event, JazzAhead, which takes place in Bremen, Germany:
The trio has been touring for the past four years and has been featured in major festivals and venues in Europe, USA, Canada, Taiwan and Israel. CD Release tours will be in the US (November 2015 and May 2016) and in Europe (February and April 2016).
“…It was a night full of intense rhythms, passionate soul, and forward-thinking Jazz at its best and most creative. A very unique and intriguing world Jazz program by one of the rising stars of Jazz flute…”
Hadar has been a featured performer with acclaimed artists such as Yemen Blues, Dave Valentin, Anat Cohen, Omer Avital, and showcased in venues and festivals as Blue Note, WOMEX, Discover Jazz Festival, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Babel Med Music, Roskilde Festival, “A” Trane, Central Park SummerStage, to name a few.
