Omer & Tal Golan

We are Omer and Tal Golan, an artist collaboration working under the appellation OMTA, specializing in the intersection of fine art, science, culture and technology through highly visual presentations of interactive media. We have established ours collaboration as a forerunner in groundbreaking research by producing exhibitions that encourage viewer participation in order to conduct studies regarding human interaction, digital mediation, and social awareness. Particular distinction has been given to our “Plant a Comment” display, a leading exhibition utilizing Google’s Liquid Galaxy to create an alternate platform for social media. With “Plant a Comment,” we achieved a balance between form and function while simultaneously creating aesthetic data visualizations which communicate information regarding human behavior and communication.
Our exhibitions have been featured in the US and abroad including shows at ArtZond Festival of Conceptual & Tendetiuos Art in Russia; The Hive NYC Art Space, 14th Street Y Theatre, and De-construkt Projekts Gallery in New York City; and a permanent interactive display at the Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem. Among other notable collaborations, we have worked in cooperation with Google and have completed commissioned work for Art-Link (Google, Tel Aviv). OMTA is an associate member of the Leonardo/International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology and is a current contributor to university curriculums in Hong Kong, at the University of West Sydney, Tel Aviv University, and Bezalel Academy.
Together, we have been influenced by the work of Rembrandt, Pablo Picasso, Mel Alexenberg, Aaron Koblin, and Daniel Rozin. We hope to contribute to memorable and pioneering traditions in fine art by using technology to explore self-perception and aesthetic response. We currently reside in NYC with our beautiful daughter, Zoe Frank.
