Shira Shushan
Violist Shira Shushan was born in the year 1997, and began her violin studies at the age of 13 in the class of Eyal Shiloah. She continued her violin studies with the teacher Igor Frug. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Buchmann Mehta school of music in Tel Aviv in the class of Prof. Hagai Shaham (violin), and her master’s degree from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in the the class of Tali Kravitz (viola). In 2023 she won the first prize in the strings competition in the Jerusalem Academy. Shira joined the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra in October 2023, viola section, and earned permanence in March 2024. Recently, she was awarded the assistant principal position in the viola section for the 2024-2025 session. Shira is a recipient of many scholarships, including the AICF scholarship in the years 2015-2019. She served her national service as a visitors guide in heritage sites in the upper Galilee. She participated in many masterclasses with artists including Atar Arad, Molly Carr, Haim Taub, Gilad Karni, Paul Colleti, Tatiana Masurenko, Ori Kam and many more. As a regular participant in the “Musethica” project, she played chamber music with artists such as Zvi Plesser, Michal Korman and Avri Levitan.
